“MIRÓ, CALDER, GIACOMETTI, BRAQUE: Aimé Maeght and his Artists”

Exhibition Design - Royal Academy of Arts, London, UK. October 2008 to January 2009

Exhibition presenting works from the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul de Vence, France. With important works by Bonnard and Matisse representing the early years of the Fondation, the exhibition focused in particular on four artists: Miró, Calder, Giacometti and Braque. The works shown were paintings, sculptures, lithographs and illustrated books. The story of the birth of the Galerie Maeght in post 2nd World War Paris, and the friendships between the Maeght family and their artists is shared through sketches, letters, photographs, and films.

Sophie Hicks Architects developed the concept of the exhibition with the Royal Academy curators, and designed the installation.
